Dr. Tom Maniatis, professor of molecular and cellular biology, successful entrepreneur and co-author of Molecular Cloning: A Laboratory Manual, will be here for a one hour seminar discussion.  He will discuss his experiences in cofounding and building the Genetics Institute, Inc., ProScript Pharma, and Acceleron Pharma.  Learn more about how his early research in molecular cloning led him down the path to becoming a leading researcher in his field as well has more recent work in conceptualizing and helping establish the New York Genome Center.  Tom is currently the chairman of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics at Columbia University, and the Director of a University-wide Precision Medicine Initiative.  Please bring your specific questions about Dr. Maniatis’ research and entrepreneurial adventures.
